What are the standards for eye protection lights used for school classroom lighting?

2023-06-05

Children and adolescents are the future of our country and the hope of our nation. In recent years, due to the increasing burden on primary and secondary school students both in and out of class, the popularity of electronic screen products such as mobile phones and computers, and factors such as excessive and unhygienic eye use, lack of physical exercise, and outdoor activities, the myopia rate among children and adolescents in China remains high and continues to rise. The younger and more severe myopia has become a major issue related to the future of the country and the nation. The prevention and control of myopia among children and adolescents requires the joint efforts of the government, schools, medical institutions, families, students and other aspects, as well as the whole social action to take action to protect children's eyes.

The school classroom is the main place for children to learn, and more than 60% of the time is spent by teenagers and children in the classroom every day. Lighting in the school classroom is particularly important for children's visual health. If the eye protection lamps used in the school classroom do not meet the standards, it will have irreversible effects on the vision of children and adolescents. So, what are the standards for eye protection lamps used in school classroom lighting?

1、 Excellent illumination

According to the "Hygienic Standards for Daylighting and Lighting in Primary and Secondary School Classrooms", all classrooms should be equipped with classroom eye protection lights, and the uniform illumination value on the surface of the classroom desks should not be less than 300lx, and its illumination uniformity should not be less than 0.7; The classroom blackboard should be equipped with classroom blackboard lights, which should maintain a uniform illumination value of not less than 500lx, and the illumination uniformity should not be less than 0.8.

2、 No glare

The uniform glare value (URG) of the classroom should not exceed 16. Most of the fluorescent lights and general LED lights used in classroom lighting have severe glare problems, which can easily lead to myopia, reduce students' attention, and affect learning efficiency. Data shows that traditional T8 bracket fluorescent lamps do not have glare treatment. At the same time, the glare value of general lighting fixtures is greater than 20, causing glare. Studying in this environment for a long time can cause students to feel dizzy and dizzy, which can easily lead to myopia.

3、 High color rendering index

The color rendering index of the classroom lighting source should not be less than 90, and traditional T8 bracket fluorescent lamps do not have glare treatment. The color rendering index of general lighting fixtures is around 70, which cannot reach 90. However, if the color rendering index does not reach 90, it will cause distortion in the visual image.

4、 No flicker hazard

Strobe has the most obvious impact on vision, which can easily distract students' attention and reduce learning efficiency. Traditional T8 fluorescent lamps exhibit particularly severe flicker during startup and voltage instability. However, when current is stable, the flicker (shaking depth) is also greater than 40%, and the flicker of ordinary LED lamps is also greater than 20%. Learning in this environment for a long time can also easily cause visual fatigue. And the professional LED classroom eye protection light flicker is less than or equal to 3.2%, far lower than the first two.

5、 Moderate color temperature

The classroom should use a light source with a color temperature of 5000K. Nowadays, the color temperature of professional LED classroom eye protection lights is mostly 5000K, which belongs to warm white light. However, many campuses still use traditional T8 fluorescent lamps and general LED lighting fixtures, which have a color temperature greater than 6500K and are classified as cold white light.

6、 No blue light hazard

The term 'blue light' is not unfamiliar to everyone, I believe. The most commonly used term in eyewear shops is' anti blue light ,If ordinary LED lighting fixtures do not undergo anti blue light treatment, there may also be blue light damage. The professional LED classroom eye protection lights have passed professional processing and reached exemption level, without blue light damage. The educational lighting fixtures that meet these six points will have more realistic colors, less dazzling, and brighter than before. The eyes are very comfortable, with low fatigue, and there is no aversion to learning due to eye fatigue, reducing the rate of myopia. The brightness of the blackboard becomes more uniform, the eyes become more comfortable, and it is more convenient to engage in focused learning and work.
